Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Material Handling Equipment Procurement: Develop and execute strategic plans for material handling equipment procurement, ensuring alignment with project requirements, quality standards, and budget constraints. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Plant Procurement: Lead the procurement of plant machinery and equipment, negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery. Implement best practices in vendor selection and management to enhance project efficiency.
  • Sub-Contracting: Oversee the selection and management of subcontractors, ensuring they meet project needs, quality standards, and deadlines. Foster strong relationships with subcontractors to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Machining Procurement: Manage the sourcing of machining services, including CNC machining and fabrication. Monitor machining quality, adherence to project schedules, and cost control measures.
  • Raw Material Sourcing: Develop and implement advanced strategies for the procurement of raw materials required for project execution. Ensure a consistent supply chain, negotiate favorable terms, and manage inventory efficiently.
  • Strategic Procurement Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with the company’s objectives. Identify opportunities for cost savings, risk mitigation, and process optimization.
  • MIS and Performance Reporting: Establish and maintain robust Management Information Systems (MIS) for procurement activities. Generate regular performance reports, analyze data, and provide strategic insights to drive decision-making and process improvements.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify and lead cost-saving initiatives and value engineering programs across all procurement categories. Continuously seek ways to reduce costs while maintaining or enhancing quality standards.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Ensure compliance with contractual agreements, resolve disputes, and conduct periodic supplier performance evaluations.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all procurement activities adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and performance evaluations.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Provide visionary leadership to the procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
Skill sets/Additional requirements:
Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (BE Mech).
  • 18-20 years of progressive procurement experience, including material handling equipment, plant procurement, sub-contracting, machining, and raw material procurement.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiations, cost savings, and supplier management.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing advanced MIS and performance reports.
  • Knowledge of materials management, with an MBA/Diploma in Materials Management preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management principles
